Hadn't been there in years - was invited to a family dinner tonight and was literally in shock at how far it has fallen. Food and service both sucked and the managers (Gray? and Michael) seemed clueless. Place was packed but I'm guessing it's riding on its past glory?

I went there last weekend. Service was good. Food was as expected, I never really held it to some high standard though.

I've never understood the love for this dump either.

Old people who live for nostalgia and bland/underseasoned food bc their palates cant handle the good stuff. Girlfriends parents love the place for those exact reasons...I expext most of their patrons are the same way.

I'll offer a counterpoint.

Family went there Friday night after LSU gym meet. They said it would be 20-30 mins to be seated...closer to 10.

Waiter was very attentive and the food was excellent. I had the fried shrimp, wife had the crabmeat au gratin. Daughter had the popcorn shrimp salad that she really enjoyed and son had red beans and rice (similarly happy).

Food was well-prepared and hot, and it was fairly busy.

This is the third time we've eaten there (or from there - carry out) and it's been solid each time.

IMO you can't go wrong with the Sid Gautreaux at MA's

We went there the other night and the food came out in good time and tasted really good. They have some really good dishes there. And their banquet room and side porch area are great places to have partys.

Every time we go to Mike Anderson's, the food has been pretty good. Especially after the fire.

All three times I ordered takeout from them, I was quoted a time.. Arrived like 10-15 minutes AFTER the quoted time.. And was left sitting in the lobby for 10-15 minutes because it wasn't ready.

After the third strike, I never went back.

I don't know how it was back in the day but 5-7 years ago the food wasn't very good.

After reading this thread this morning I had a craving for fried catfish. Philay's is closed on Sundays and Galvez seafood was packed, I'm assuming due to crawfish. It was between MA's in Ginzales or Don's. mike's had a better kids menu so we went.

I was a little worried at first and almost left because after we got seated, we didn't get a waiter for 10 minutes.

After Carlos showed up, he was very attentive and I was quite pleased with all the food. I had catfish an shrimp and wife had catfish and crawfish tails. Kids had kid shite.

I've been on Atkins for over a year and can't remember the last time I had fried catfish but I thought it was pretty good tonight.

So my big cheat is out of the way so it's back to the Atkins tomorrow.

Thing that really bothered me was that since we had 11 in our group, the server was guaranteed an 18% tip. He could care less about providing good service. When my wife asked if he could check on our food (it had been over an hour since we had ordered), he repllied, "No, it will come when it comes." frick that place.
