I found a thread from 2010 that said Pluckers was the best. Is it still the case? I find it sad that BR does not have a good wings place other than these franchisee places.

A friend mentioned Bayou Hot Wings in NOLA, might have to make the trip unless something has opened in BR that I am not aware of?

I find it sad that people start threads about the sadness in their lives caused by a lack of non-chain wing shops in BR. They're wings dude. If you find it necessary to drive to NOLA for wings you might need to question contributing to a board as esteemed as the FDB.

ETA TJ Ribs has some pretty good wings but they also have 2 locations so they might be a chain.

Bayou Hot Wings in NOLA,

I don't think it's worth driving to NOLA, they are too easy to do at home. But DEFINITELY not for that establishment.

I am sad that you are sad that I am sad about non-chain wing shops. But thanks for the TJ Ribs suggestion. I will definitely give it a try.

I miss the Nuclear sauce that WingZone used to have when they were operating near LSU....

Make you own wings.

Once you start making them at home, you'll never go out for wings ever again.

If they're good, they're good. Who gives a frick if they're from a "chain"?

I recommend "sauce on side" for the wings at TJ Ribs...which by the way...are the best wings I've ever had.

They do ALL YOU CAN EAT on Monday night's. $20 AYCE wings and all you can drink draft beer.

Depends on your favorite style of wings.

TJ Ribs are huge with the tips still on them and dry (sauce on the side).

Chimes has the best strictly buffalo ones. I'm a buffalo sauce fanatic, so that's where I go for it. They're big and have a nice heat.

If you're the type to get a bunch of different sauces, I would say Pluckers.

ETA: Agree with everyone else about making them -- definitely before driving to New Orleans. Buffalo sauce is just hot sauce and butter.. maybe a sprinkle of garlic powder. Wings are as simple as frying ~7minutes with skin on.

I despise Pluckers. Only went there once. My issue is that its expensive, and they hardly put any sauce on the wings at all. Isn't that the whole point of getting wings?

I never thought there would be a place with worse wings than Buffalo Wild Wings, but I was wrong.

These days all of my wings are homemade. Cheaper and better.

This is truth.

The only place I will go get wings that I don't make myself these days are Wing Stop, and a place in Fort Worth called Buffalo Bros. across the street from TCU. That's it. But even going to those places these days is rare because I make my own wings to my liking rather than being at the mercy of the person in the kitchen.

Here is a pic of my homemade wings and homemade blue cheese:

Good, but do they do buffalo wings or just fried wings? Used to be they only did plain fried wings.

Pluckers:

Sesame mixed with garlic parmesan

Or

Baker's gold mixed with garlic parmesan

Or

Honey bbq mixed with fire in the hole.

Their blue cheese is the GOAT!
