Why can my dad fry eggs in his cast iron but I can't in mine?

I've watched him fry eggs in his cast iron 100's of times, but every time I try in mine the eggs get stuck to the bottom of the cast iron.

Is it strictly because mine is new (6 months) and his is old? I use mine all the time

Put some butter in there and don't cook so damn hot.

Agree. I'm a fan of going with lower heat when cooking eggs.

I use butter but yea maybe I'm cooking it too hot, I usually fry bacon, pour out the grease, put butter in it, and then fry the eggs

Yep, there's your problem. Pan is way too hot.

I cook mine over medium heat max. You keep doing it and eventually you'll build up the seasoning on your cast iron.

Hmmmm makes sense but now I have a dilemma, if I want to make bacon and eggs using only one pan I can't use my cast iron? It's definitely the best pan for frying bacon.

Use more oil in the pan. Get you an old Griswold or Wagner skillet, they were machined smooth from the factory and season faster/better than the new ones.

Well the bacon grease is way too hot to fry an egg, I leave some in, clearly the pan is too hot anyway though

bullshite

toss that egg in, let the bottom get all nice and crispy while using a spoon to baste the top and yolk to whatever consistency you want

Yeah, I've never had an egg stick in a pan with bacon fat. Still prefer to cool the skillet a little to prevent grease lava from raining down on my face.

Those smooth slick old cast iron skillets are still going to do better on this than the new shite product, no matter how well you season it. A really good old one is better than Teflon. It's hard, if not impossible, to replicate on pretty much any new one.

you know, I never even considered this, way too obvious...
I always cook the bacon first because it takes longer
