Watching outdoor show "Out de Bayou" the other day. They do a restaurant/cooking segment for about 5 minutes during the show. The restaurant (remains nameless) pre-seasoned their steaks with coffee. I was like "damn"?

I've had steaks with a coffee rub before... it's pretty good, but doesn't beat just good old salt & pepper.

how old does salt have to be in order to be considered old?

count: I had a buddy that did this all the time. it was okay, i'm like Boo and prefer just salt and pepper or a cajun seasoning mix.

Considering it was a mineral that formed million of years ago to begin with, so yeah, its good OLD salt.

I've tried it. It was pretty good. Gimmicky.

If I'm planning to microwave, I will throw a small amount of coffee grinds in my italian dressing marinade. It usually helps with the final texture.

I've never done it, but had a Kona coffee bone in Bison ribeye once at Pappa's steakhouse that was amazing

I have done the coffee grind crust with salmon before. It was incredible.

Never with steak.

Seasoning steak with coffee was a big trend with cooking shows years ago when they were trying to do "different" things with steaks.

I love this on ribs. I haven't tried it on a steak, but I will now.
