Yama is the most expensive, doesn't have the best atmosphere, but they have very good fish and have many quality rolls on the menu with big hunks of fish that don't need a lot of sauce to taste good...

From our visit Sat Night...

If you go for the fish, Yama is #1.

If you like things with lots of stuff going on.. fried stuff, heavy mayo sauces, etc., Yama will not be for you.

It is fantastic IMO. Yes, it is pricey, but I find the rolls plenty filling to not need much.

The Little Rice Roll is the best.

Ichiban has a lot of that stuff. A lot of places, I guess.

Yama is just a little higher than most places, price wise, so I don't know that it would be worth going there and getting that stuff when you can get it elsewhere for a lower price, ya know?

My stomach can't handle it.

very good description.

The atmosphere can be pretty shitty if you are going to be on a date or want a silent/intimate dinner with your SO. Its easily the worst of the three (ichiban, koto, yama).

For me if youre going for nigiri/sashimi, koto is my choice.

Rolls or anything else, yama.

Fair enough. Maybe I included because I love that tuna three ways that is off the menu and their fried yellowtail neck (not sushi).

if you wanted some quick basic rolls (possibly even made with brown rice) for lean meals where would you go?

If you just want basic rolls, most places can satisfy that need. Really comes down to the area youre in.

I have never ordered brown rice with rolls at a japanese place so I would call before going and ask them if they sub brown rice for the white.

All the places mentioned in here are completely fine for basic rolls. Those rolls are generally cheap at most places.

Sushi Yama is by far the best.

Their fish is very fresh, and their specials are extremely good.

They had a blue fin tuna roll with some sort of jalapeno something or other inside it and it was the best damn thing i've ever had, sushi wise. Their fatty tuna sushi (not roll) is outstanding.

My go to rolls are the Rachael Roll, the Little Rice Roll, and the V-Roll. But i've tried damn near everything. I also get the fatty tuna, smoked salmon, and one other sushi when i'm there.

Also the pork fried dumplings and fried rice are also outstanding. me and the wife eat there almost every friday.
