Anyone see the guy on the LBC Facebook page saying ECBP c920 was a drain pour for him?

Got a good chuckle out of that

New to this whiskey/bourbon game. I love eagle rare and buy when I can. The other day I found a bottle and they also had a blantons so I bought it. Never had it before but not sure if I should open it or sell/trade it.

no but that is pretty dumb. Never had an ECBP I did not like, great juice.

Maybe I’m a different kinda guy, but when I buy bourbon it’s typically to drink it.

If you’ve never had it, open it and drink it. It’s not absurdly rare, so you aren’t “ruining” an opportunity that you can trade for hundreds of dollars or something.

Blantons is a good bottle at retail, for me it is not worth more than retail. I think it might be the most overhyped of the Buffalo Trace line, but you should open it and drink it. If you like it buy more in the future when you find it, if not let it sit for others that like it more than you

Anyone tried this?

This is a Martin's store pick. I had a sample of it while in the store today. very interesting nose and finish. Pretty unique flavor profile, the cab barrels really come through. Thoughts?

It's disgusting when I see markups due to the hype. I recently was in a store where they're charging $179 for Blanton's

It’s also annoying when people attempt to capitalize on hype by buying bourbon that they don’t plan on drinking, and just want to either sell it on secondary or trade it for other bourbons.

ETA: also FPD Barrell Dovetail, drinking with people over so didn’t get a chance to take a pic.

I hate the buy out the shelf guy. The first time I saw Blanton's, there were 5 I could have grabbed. But I thought that would have been a complete a-hole move, so I took one. Yesterday I saw 6 EC toasted barrels on a shelf. Could have wiped that out since I really like it, but just grabbed one for me and one for a friend.

There's a few times where I wish I would've bought a second bottle of something, but never more than that.

Agree on Blanton's. Got into whiskey a few years ago when Blanton's was easier to fine. I've purchase a few bottles from $50-$60. I like it well enough but I'm not sure why it is getting so much hype. Even at $60 there are better options. It's a nice bottle to have and a nice bottle for a gift but I'm not sure why people are going insane over it.

I cannot agree with this more. I was at Rouses and they had 5 EC Toasted Barrel bottles. $46. I bought 1. Every now and then I’ll buy two of something that’s hard to find just so I can have a backup. And if I buy to trade, I’m trading at MSRP. Blantons is so overhyped it’s stupid. Great pour at $55. Anything more and you are getting screwed by buying into hype. The bottle I’m holding out hope to find is the JD Barrel Proof Rye. If I came across it, as much as I’d like to get it, I wouldn’t pay secondary for it.

I love Four Roses. The higher proofed barrel picks are typically amazing.

Me too. I really hate that it's impossible to find in Louisiana now. Still nursing a couple of bottles I got in Mississippi a couple of years ago.

My favorite is OESK.
