I've only had the Fred Noe private selection from Calandros, a grocery store in Baton Rouge. And it's delicuois. I've never had the regular KCSB, but others here have said its not worth the $45-$50.

Yeah, I thought it was good, but drank a little hot. Within the same price point, I prefer 4 Roses Single Barrel.

I'd pick the Four Roses hands down every time. But that's me, as I'm not a KC fan. But the barrel everyone talked about from Colandros keeps getting good reviews, just never tried it.

I thought the regular KC Single barrel was OK when I first opened it but found it to be much better after I had a few more glasses. I eventually became a fan. The Calandro's version is better.

FPD - John J Bowman Single Barrel, tasty!

Have any of you guys used the bourbon exchange on Facebook? I have a guy trying to trade me A Weller antique for a 12 ( I think that's fair) is it safe from fakes and theft?

Am I correct in saying the antique is in short supply I have not seen much around nola for a month or two

Any online transactions (in person too for that matter) are subject to fakes and frauds. I have never used BX but there are plenty on here who have. Just be wise about it. That seems like a good trade to me...I haven't seen either the 12 or 107 in quite some time until recently with the 12 popping up.

This may be a very dumb question but are fakes really prevalent? I know with anything in demand fakes pop up but do people really fake Bourbons? I could understand BTAC and Pappy but Weller?

Hey GC,

I store my homemade simple syrup in a tupperware container, and it keeps a few 3 weeks or so before it turns into rock candy. Ha.

Not saying it could be a fake weller antique but maybe the wrong one like the reserve (that is still on shelves and not as good imo) or just flat out not sending anything or a empty box and blaming fedex/ups/usps. Think about it...you going to make a claim that your illegal booze was stolen out of the box?

It's illegal to ship USPS, only against company policy to ship UPS or FedEx. I'd at least try to have the thief prosecuted for wire fraud.

Those are $20 bottles. Relax.

Thanks for the reply. Still trying to figure out if I want to make my own or just buy something pre-made.

Someone want to explain to me what all of this "Orphan Barrel" stuff is I've been seeing lately?

You lame arse. You've had one of them at my house. You had the Barterhouse and enjoyed it. The Orphan Barrel bourbons are older bourbons with shitty shadey marketing. The bourbon is good though, so who cares.
