I have spent the last month reading through this great thread and have about another 50 pages to go. Good stuff! I see a lot of comments on very good buys for $30 or less. I am willing to pay a little more for better stuff but there are so many good choices in the $50 to $100 range. Here is a tougher question: what are your top five favorites under $100 that are reasonably available?

Thats a hard question...I like so many and it changes...but for now in no particular order

EHT...any of them...but after last nights side by side...single barrel.
4 Roses single barrel
Angels Envy
Buffalo trace
And while they are around Rhetoric...and again after last night I think Rhetoric > Barterhouse. Altho I will need more testing

I am surprised to see Buffalo Trace on that list over the likes of Knob Creek SB, Bulleit 10, Russels Reserve SB and Elijah Craig. I guess I need to try some.

It would be interesting to see other lists. Anybody else want to give it a try?

i like buffalo trace and other BT products. Buffalo Trace and Eagle Rare are some of the best sub $30 bourbons not real big on Beam other than Bookers, Bulleit is an NDP so i dont mess with them, Russells Reserve 10 year is very good, and of course EC12 is very good. there is just so much out there. its a good time to be a bourbon fan

Doesn't Bulleit use Four Roses juice? I can't be all bad with that origin. Isn't rhetoric an NDP too? I believe Rhetoric and Bulleit are both made by Diageo.

I understand the distain for NDP's. No pedigree.

The Bulleit one is a topic of debate. Diageo owns Bulleit and buys white dog from Four Roses, Brown-Forman, Constellation and Jim Beam. It's all aged at the old S/W. Some say Diageo blends their white dog, some say they dont.

Rhetoric is not a brand per se, so not an NDP. Rhetoric is old whiskey Diageo acquired during a purchase that has had a gimmicky marketing push applied to it. I think Rhetoric came from Bernhiem along with Barterhouse and Blowhard.
