Bought this on a whim. I really like it. The chocolate malt smooths it out a bit.

No raffle, it's first come first served. There are 2 stores here that get btac and Pappy, one won't let people line up so it's a black Fridayesque mad dash to the door whenever the cops quit patrolling. The other will let people camp out, last year a guy from Georgia showed up Thursday afternoon and waited until Monday morning.

It looks like the stores up here at releasing the OFBB this week, which is a departure from what they have done in the past.

Yes......only plus is that they can't gouge. Other than that it's an unorganized shite show. I'm doing my best to steer the stores down here in the right direction.

That about sums it up.

Think about going to the DMV, it's basically the same level of service. But what else would you expect from a state run monopoly.

You would be amazed. Stuff like Blanton's, ER, and regular old Buffalo Trace gets held behind the counter and only sold at 1 per customer if you ask about it.

They keep one bottle of each on the shelf at my stores. One of the managers said some asians will come in and buy all of it on the shelf if they don't.

It is the same way here in Ohio. All run by the state. Cant even by Weller anything they don't carry it. They hold a bunch of EHT, Stagg JR and some other premiums until the week of Thanksgiving then put it out. Lucky I get down to KY a few times a year. Just picked up this Liqour Barn OBSQ and Springbank Local Barley couple weeks ago in KY.

The John's Lane is outstanding. Hard to find in the US. I have to order it out of Chicago. LA can get the Gold label and the Signature but not John's lane for some reason.

A great single malt but too expensive locally. Get a few folks to go in with you and seek out a price online. Even with shipping 6 bottle end up being $15-20 cheaper than anything locally.

I'm making another trip to Ireland in March and will be bringing back whatever I can fit. The duty free at the Dublin airport has it for around $50/bottle.

This is my first 4R barrel pick. Where does OBSV land amongst the ranks? Would appreciate some opinions. TIA

Good Deal, look for the 12 year old blended gold label (black label) quite good as well.

I know most people will say the OBSK is the one to buy, but I have found that its hard to say with the barrel picks just based on recipe alone. It depends on what you like really. I do know that the OBSV is the same recipe as the regular single barrel. It really depends on what happened to the juice while it was in the barrel.

OBSV

My experience with these is that they can vary dramatically based based on which warehouse they are aged in and what part.
Personally, I prefer the lower rye mash bill (OESx). Some warehouses are more sought after, especially ME.

My understanding of the code is that the barrel below was aged in:
Warehouse Q
Southern side
51st rick
2nd rack
Barrel W (23 barrels deep)
