My parents are coming to visit, and I'm trying to figure out where to take them for a nice dinner. This will be my mom's first trip to New Orleans. Suggestions?

Thanks. I searched and saw good suggestions, but I wanted to see if anyone had a must-do recommendation for a first time visit.

Commander's Palace, no question. It is a perfect high end restaurant for someone's first trip to NOLA.

I think something like a Commanders or Clancy's is a good way for a first time visitor to see something outside of the Quarter. It is obviously a pretty drive to those locations too.

Do you parents like certain types of food? Any location or money requirements?

Ye Olde College Inn. Drew Brees always talks about that place.

Commanders jazz brunch is a great choice. For dinner I suggest Brigtsen's for a first time visit. Great modern creole.

You are trying too hard to be like Paul. Give it a rest.

Yes the place is pretty good, but not a special good place someone needs to go to on their first trip to Nola.

Oh wait, you would suggest Superior Seafood.

We took my gf's parents who are from out of town there on a recent trip and they loved it.

What's your beef with it? Don't say I'm trying to be like Paul when you sit here and judge places without even trying them.

And I didn't suggest superior seafood. I was taking up for it cause you were acting like he said to go to Ralph & Cackoos. It's not bad at all, they do several things right. It's a great space with a nice view. I went recently and the service is as good as any place I've eaten in the last year.

YOCI is fine, but it wouldn't be in my top 10 to take an out of towner for dinner on their first trip here.

If I'm taking a 30 something friend; no

If I'm taking 60+ parent? Sure. It has history and that old school New Orleans feel that the older generation appreciates.

You feel me on this one or what bunchie?

Not everyone is impressed by Root, baw.
