Went looking for a new spot for lunch today, ran across Newk's and decided to drop in. Service was really fast and the food was ok. But holy shite, the place was packed. I didn't think there was anything special about my sandwich, why does this place get so much love? The restaurant was full and they had at least 20 people waiting to order.

The scenery was pretty good, now that you mention it.

Still not anything out of the ordinary. The sandwich was ok, not great. Nothing special about it. It's probably on par with subway.

Italian and Newks q are good. I liked the bacon pimento Mac n cheese. I agree, it's not a place I'll go out of my way to dine at or frequent multiple times a week, but i enjoyed my 2 meals there. Online ordering is also a plus.

its certainly better than Subway...

I like their Italian. But you're right, people go nuts for the place. If its new, it will eventually die down.

Just stop. Subway isn't too far removed from prison food.

I know it sounds like a troll. However, my steak sandwich wasn't any better than something Subway would have put out. The building is nicer, but my meal wasn't anything special. Maybe a pizza or the mac and cheese is fantastic, can't speak to that.

Yep. Didn't even know they were putting one up until I drove by last week

I'm not trying to fit in anything. I'm saying the steak sandwich from Newk's was on the same level as a Steak sandwich from Subway. That's an honest opinion. Maybe they have other items that are better, but the sandwich was just ok.

Chicks love those 1,500 calorie salads. The one here on 280 in Bham is packed every day for lunch. I don't even try to go there.
