Went last night with the family on the way to the gymnastics meet. Was pretty excited for the roast beef po boy. I remember it being pretty good years ago. Absolutely terrible. Ordered the large. It was a little bigger than a hot dog. No flavour and hardly any gravy. Was still hungry so tried some of the kids pizza. I swear I’ve had better frozen pizza

when were kids my grandfather owned service grocery on East Blvd. we would get dropped off there on Saturdays and after the store closed my grandfather would stop in to pastime and get a large hamburger pizza. We weren’t allowed to go in with him because it had a bar.

great memories…but the pizza was shite back in the 70s too

Pastime has always been average. It’s still a good place to go sit down at though.

It’s nostalgia for many, but the food is less than average.

Worked near there in the 90s and would often go for lunch. I loved that you wrote your own order on a pad. Almost guaranteed it wouldn’t be screwed up. Pizza and fried oysters were usual orders, and they were always pretty good.

As they have said, it’s nostalgia but there’s nothing wrong with that. Cities need nostalgic places that you enjoy visiting.

I agree. It’s good for bar food and sitting at the bar talking with the old timers

Remember the old "I would like a poboy with extra gravy. Answer: "No" " thread? Here it is in all it's glory.

We used to go fairly regularly in the 80s when I was growing up. I think my dad liked it because it was one of his college hangouts back in the day and he could knock back a few beers while we were eating pizza.

I took my family there a year or two ago just because they'd never been. The pizza wasn't bad to me but not great either. All of the old LSU memorabilia was pretty cool but I'd never purposely drive over there again just to eat there.

It was one of the F&DB golden threads, only made golden by the owner's responses on FB. It would have died quickly otherwise.

I checked the website and couldn't find the FAQs previously posted there. I wish we'd have included those in the thread. They'd be fun to read. Now, that they're gone, I don't know how one who has never been to the restaurant will know how it works or why you can't have extra gravy unless you order your roast beef poboy "sloppy".

It used to be a fun place to go but I haven't been there in 25 years.
