I don't drink beer; for certain occasions I drink wine, so I'm basically a cocktail guy. But I go seasonal on the cocktails:
SUMMER (Easter until the Labor Day bottle of Bombay Sapphire runs out):
Primary cocktail: Bombay Sapphire and GOOD tonic (Fever Tree, Q) with 2-3 lime wedges. Usually drinking a lot of these at LSU tailgates until about October.
Cocktails for the boat or at the beach (these can be poured into larger glasses or yeti cups, and do not go flat):
-- Jimmy Buffett's Favorite Cocktail: white rum (I use Don Q cause my buddy used to run that company), coconut WATER, a couple of lime wedges.
-- Green Squall: white rum, Midori melon liqueur, pineapple juice, lime wedge. Basically a Pearl Harbor with rum instead of vodka
FOOTBALL SEASON (After gin runs out until Christmas season/ after Thanksgiving):
Primary cocktail: Maker's Mark and 7-Up (at home or at tailgates, usually have to settle for Sprite when out at a bar, restaurant, or game). Drink a lot of these at tailgates and in the Superdome the latter part of the Tigers and Saints season.
HOLIDAY SEASON (Generally just after Thanksgiving to Twelfth Night):
Primary cocktail: Scotch (Dewar's)and 7-Up
Secondary Cocktail: Jingle Juice, which is vodka (Ketel One, Stoli, Goose, Absolut, Tito's), and equal parts cranberry and orange juice. Close to a Madras, but that has a higher % of cranberry.
And a Cajun Eggnog daiquiri (from New Orleans Original Daiquiri's) with an extra shot of Southern Comfort is an occasional indulgence.
CARNIVAL TIME (Twelfth Night to Mardi Gras day:
Primary cocktail when it's warm/hot out: Mardi Gras Cocktail: Vodka, cranberry juice, splash of blue curacao stirred in to make it purple, two small wedges of lemon and lime. Purple, green and gold in a (clear) go-cup.
Primary cocktail when it's cold/chilly out: Old Fashioned. Maker's Mark, Bitters, muddled Luxardo cherry, simple syrup, over ice, orange slice.
LENT, AND OTHER TIMES THROUGHOUT THE YEAR AS I FEEL:
A real Margarita (on the rocks): 3 parts Cuervo Silver, 2 parts Cointreau, 1 part FRESH lime juice, and you need a little bit of some form of sweetener-- agave syrup or simple syrup, or even a packet of Splenda. Shake well with crushed ice, strain and pour over rocks in a salted rim glass with another wedge of lime squeezed in.
true Whiskey Sour:
-- 3 parts Maker's Mark
-- 2 parts citrus juice (I use half lemon, half lime)
-- 1 part simple syrup (or if you are watching weight, some Splenda or stevia in a shot of water)
-- Egg white (important, makes it foamy)
Shake in cocktail shaker with crushed ice till outside frosts over. Strain into glass, either over rocks or straight. Garnish with orange wedge and cherry.
And ALWAYS:
-- George DuBoeuf Beaujolais Nouveau on Thanksgiving Day and Christmas Day, with the turkey.
-- Veuve Clicquot Champagne on New Year's Eve.

You just need to upgrade your tequila and bourbon

I think this one should be called a Whiskey Sweet & Sour due to the Maker's Mark

Number one for me is a vodka martini
There is no such thing as a vodka martini. A martini is a drink containing gin and vermouth. Anything else, in the words of the late Judge Bork, is alcoholic relativism.

Sazerac
Manhattan
Old Fashioned
Whiskey Sour
If I'm at a trendy or high end restaurant I'll usually order whatever specialty whiskey cocktail they have. I'm a bit hesitant to order Old Fashioneds because I find restaurants screw those up more than any other cocktail that I get. If the place doesn't have a specialty whiskey cocktail I typically just order a Sazerac.
