Eating some field peas with some chili sauce. The chili sauce was made by my grandmother that died in November. Tomorrow is her birthday.

My grandmother made a homemade ketchup that is probably somewhat similar. We always ate it on various types of peas. It was so good. I put the recipe in the recipe book/thread a while back. Every summer, I swear I'm going to make it and I don't.

Sorry about losing your grandmother. It's hard. It's pretty neat that you still have her chili sauce to enjoy. Do you have her recipe?

Yes I do. She was 92. She lived a long and good life.

That's a good thing!
I'd love to see it and compare.

So fortunate, though I know it's we are never ready to say goodbye.

Both my dad's parents died 23 days apart. They were ready. They had too much family, including 2 sons, to catch up with.

Finally settled at the in-laws in Shreveport. SIL was in the Mecca today for a funeral and picked up a pan of beams and potato salad from the Hopper clan. Junior is tearing up both sides now and I'm leaving to find some main courses for the next few days.

Oh my gosh! That's hard stuff. I do think that sometimes one spouse goes right after the other of a broken heart and loneliness. I think they would rather be with the one they love and I think they're perfectly happy on the other side. It's somewhat romantic.

A bad down side to living so long is the risk that a child can go before you, though that's a lifetime risk, as well. Sounds like you are very much at peace with the way things went and that's a gift, for sure.

I thought r2r said he was food trucking it?

Dinner was a bag of BBQ potato chips. I hate stopping for anything other than gas when driving. Wasn't a lot to choose from.
