Tomato basil soup and a grilled cheese actually sounds fantastic right now.

a rye old fashioned is the way to go. with bourbon I just stick to a glass of ice.

Dash Angostura Bitters
Dash Orange Bitter (I use Reagan's)
3/4 oz of brown sugar simple syrup
Eagle Rare

Pour over ice. Stir. Strain into glass with ice.
Garnish with orange peel.

Otherwise, just bourbon whiskey over ice.

I like other Old Fashioned recipes too, but this is my go to quick and easy drink.

Ended up at La madeliene. Sitting in front of a massive salmon Caesar salad and a cup of tomato basil soup with diet coke and a squeeze of lemon.

Yummy.

This place is way too overpriced though.

should've gone to Chelsea's

if you're suggesting that I use an actual orange in my old fashioneds rather than orange juice, well.... ya got me there. guilty of food snobbery.

When making an Old Fashioned, you must be a food snob. This is the only time when being a food snob is a good thing.

Didn't go. Forgot that the other half isn't off until 8 or 9. They close at 8.

NOW we're talking. only a couple differences between you and me. I use sugar cubes and Angostura bitters instead. I also add a tiny splash of soda (sometimes also add a tiny drop of the cherry juice if I messed up the bitters/whiskey ratio.)

And as stated, I make mine with rye whiskey rather than bourbon.
