If you want snow crab or king crab why not go?
There isnt a restaurant you will find that doesnt cook it from a frozen state.
Aside from that I cant think of any other reason to go.

it can't be purchased any other way, I believe. They come off of the crab boats and are cooked and frozen immediately.

There's a point like 2 weeks out of the year when GW Fins in N.O. gets fresh never frozen Alaskan King Crab.
I went and got it a couple of years ago. Thought it was succulent, but I'd probably be lying if I said I could definitely distinguish it from the frozen version.

Exactly, so does the same go for getting lobster at Red Lobster if they are being removed from the tank and then steamed?

Red Lobster is on par with JCS. The two best things about the Lob are the cheddar biscuts and the exit.

Worked at the Joes Crab Shack in Destin many years ago (insert joke here..)
The food is really horrible, except for the Dungeness or King Crab. The Joes on Siegen is notorious for being one of the worst run ones in the company. During my stint at the Destin Joes, the one in Baton Rouge was robbed by two separate GMs and went through another in a year's span!
The only reason to ever go to Joes is if your getting crabs, or have kids and want to drink on the outside patio and let them play in the playground so you can relax.
