Wendy's bacon Gouda burger- A review

Figured I needed to try this jewel out.
From Wendy:
I assume it was the real Wendy that typed that up. The legit Dave Thomas looking rotund one and not the skinny fake Wendy. Anyway, I like all those things so why not.
Here it is:
The good:
-The brioche bun was soft and warm
-The applewood bacon was smokey and applewoody
-The tomato was pretty red and juicy. I typically frisbee fling a fast food mater. This got allowed to stay...briefly.
The OK:
-The Gouda. It wasn't good Gouda by any means. Kinda the texture of a slice of 2 hour left out Kraft single, but you can detect some goudaness.
-The standard Wendy's square 100% all beef never frozen patty. It's a normal Wendy's patty. Edible, but has notes of cardboard soy and a kinda strange mouth. Or maybe that was the fondu/ aioli goo...
The Bad-
The fondu/aioli goo. There's tons of it. Not sure if this is standard or big Gertrude slipped into a diabetic seizure whilst she was spackeling mine on. She musta put half a bucket on there. I had to sacrifice the not so bad tomato to drag half that shite off and there. Once that was accomplished I settled back and kinda enjoyed the burger. Wendy's uses some good bacon, imho. Wouldn't mind some for home use.
Overall fast food burger rating---- 7.1/10
From Wendy:
quote:
start with a ¼ lb.* of 100% pure, fresh never frozen beef**, served hot off the grill and topped with a creamy Garlic Aioli, Gouda Cheese and Swiss Gruyere Cheese Sauce. Then we add 3 strips of fresh-cooked, Applewood Smoked Bacon, red onions, tomato and fresh spring mix - all served on a Brioche Bun.

why can't burger places melt the fricking cheese....it releases way more of the flavors that way

FWIW I use to deliver to Wendys and the infact do not use frozen beef patties and they do cook their bacon on the grill. Also, upon cooking the patty if it isn't used in a certain amount of time it is put a container sent to the cooler and used for Chili the next day. Wendys is my go to fast food joint if I want a decent burger. I normally get the Baconator Jr.

Nice of you to at least consider that it may not have been Gertrude's fault...

Wendy's burgers are the only ones that don't scare me.
Back in the day, the chicken sandwich was large and filling.

I once did a "review" of a dish I got at Chili's and was lambasted. You got 5 upvotes. Oh how things have changed.

Did you get it from 18th Street or the college? I too have sampled the Gouda burger, and I have found that the one at the college is made with much more love and care than 18th street.
Funny story, I have the exact opposite experience with the bacon fondue fries.
