Nah, still sort of high, but I never thought twice about it as it was always for the table.

Looks like they didn't know what they are doing, unless you ordered a double of something on the rocks... Typically a rocks pour is 2 oz as opposed to 1.5 oz so they charge you a $1 for the extra half ounce.

(that's how the bar I worked at would do it)

What magic are you doing in your home kitchen that it "will literally be so much better it wouldn't even be comparable?"

I love when people go to extreme hyperbole on here to try to bash a place.

And before anyone says I'm defending that entire receipt, I'm not. Only talking about the cheese fries.

The problem is with the way they programmed their POS system.

99% of mixed drinks in an establishment like Walk-On's will be on the rocks or a martini. They are itemizing out the rocks upcharge on the bill instead of just including it in the original crown & coke itemized price showing people that they are charging an extra $1 for ice. Dumb.

I would assume they have an upcharge on martinis as well.

That's a great point. Really alienating, and the kind of stuff that will create really ill will. Hence the OP.

It appears that the charge is standard in the industry. I appreciate this little nugget of knowledge.

I highly doubt 99% of people are ordering crown on the rocks. A crown and coke with ice in it is not crown on the rocks.

well if you don't have an upcharge button how do you differentiate crown and coke and crown on the rocks? Then you need 2 buttons for every liquor you sell.

I stand by my statement. Virtually all of the mixed drinks served in Walk-On's will be on the rocks or served as a martini. The upcharge should not appear separately.

You're certainly entitled to an opinion, even if it is completely ridiculous. Let's break it down just a little. You say 99% of all drink orders at Walk On's are either straight liquor over ice, or martinis. That implies you think only 1% of all orders are beer or mixed drinks. Do I need to go on?

Are you just being deliberately obtuse? Again, having ice in a crown and coke is not the same thing as having crown on the rocks.

I really can't speak specifically how their POS system breaks down.

It's not uncommon to have a liquor sell break down to 3 subs.
Liquor choice
mixer
How to serve it.

If the POS system is unable to roll that price back up in to 1 without showing the itemization for ice and they still want to charge for it, so be it, but I've only seen things like that at chains(I guess Walk-on's is on their way).

Really? Here is your quote...

ETA: The point is that a mixed drink is not "on the rocks."
