Little bit nervous. Never cooked over a real hot open flame. Been watching a lot of YouTube.

Any tips or must have tools?

Right now, my plan is Rockwood lump charcoal, a chimney starter filled about 2/3 of the way up.

I'll buy some gloves tomorrow morning before I do the cook-off for first time use.

I got a 18$ ribeye to try for the first time.

As mentioned, any tips or tricks? Coming from a pellet smoker to a PK.

I do know the shell gets very hot as well.

I would create a separate heat zone to the left in the grill and reverse sear it using the zone without direct heat and finish it off on the coals.

It's called the Portable Kitchen grill.

It is what the vast majority of people use in the competitive steak cooking circuit. Gets super hot, cast aluminum that holds heat really well.

An expensive Weber Kettle with a different shape and made of aluminum. People swear by them.
