I’m only doing one sack but I have 4 pounds on snow crabs in the freezer I want to toss in along with maybe 3-4 pounds of head on shrimp
When do you guys suggest throwing those in compared to the boiling point and soak time
Thanks

Boil the shrimp for 1 minute before you put the crawfish in then add them back with the crab legs for the soak.

They only need to soak for 10 mins max. Any longer than 10 mins, they will shrivel up to nothing or mush.

Remember, ALL snow crabs that come into the United States are cooked and flash-frozen. They only need to be re-heated.

When I do them for a small stove top shrimp boil, I season them and put them in a steam basket on top of the boil for about 10 minutes covered. Steaming is usually a better way to reheat crab and you can remove them at any point and be sure not to overcook them that way.

Thats a very important point.

There are several species of north pacific crabs in the genus Chionectes that are trap harvested and marketed as "snow crab". They have an unappealing process which causes the bright orange/red legs to turn an unmarketable black shortly after death. Cooking as soon as possible after harvest stops that process.
