Has anyone tried the latest Schlitz?

It's their original 1960's formula. I'm surprised.

It doesn't taste like any adjuncts were used and I can actually taste hops.

It was 7.85 a 12 at Mizers.

Give it a try.

The "old" Schlitz from my fraternity days in the 60s used to give me the runs.

I believe you. I'm on beer #2.

So far so good.

Very impressed with the flavor.

Kcrad,
I used to drink this with my grandfathers long ago so I wanted to try it again with the orginal formula and in a bottle. For what it is... I thought it was excellent. Here's my review: LINK

That was my Dad's beer of choice back in the day. I didn't like it then when I was stealing it from him. Was glad when he switched to PBR after Schlitz disappeared. Might try one for nostalgia though.

That would be really cool if Schlitz started brewing great beers.

Mine to but he only drank the 10 ounce cans. He said the 12 ounce tasted funny.

Cracks me up when people claim this. Also people complaining about can now days, there is a lining in cans now where the aluminum doesn't impart and metal taste. Plus cans are kind of better as light is shut out and makes beer more stable.

Well, what actually happens if is your mouth touches the outside of the can when you are drinking it. Also, smelling the aluminum when drinking out of the can will make you taste the aluminum.

This is true, but if I'm drinking out of a can I try to pour in a glass if possible. Unless it's bud or something like that. Then IDGAF. I just drink out of the can.

If both are poured into a glass, probably not.

Sense of smell is huge. Plus the texture of the can vs bottle may cause some bias as well. Seems like it flows differently.

Plus some styles just don't seem right out of a can. Like Southern Star's Buried Hatchet Stout. Good beer but I don't really like the feel of a stout coming from a can. I'll pour it into a glass.

Yeah, I try to pour thicker, stouter beers in a glass if possible. They tend to be better. Only time I won't drink out of a glass is if I'm not at home or if it's just regular bud or coors or whatever.

Last time I had a Schlitz was in the early 90s at Fred's lounge in Mamou on the Saturday before Mardi Gras.
