That is a hell of an idea, can someone give me a not too sweet, recipe that can be prepared, served chilled on Thanksgiving.

My mother in law (ex) used to make a Red Rooster or something like that, but when I look up the recipes they seem too sweet.

A blonde sangria sounds pretty good, but I wanted something with a lil more kick.

red rooster has good color. I am thinking absinthe to get through the in-law parade.

My favorite cocktail of late is still the Crescent City Cooler

Fille Highball glass with ice
add 2-3 Oz of Cruzan guava rum
3 shakes of bitters
1 oz lime juice or concentrated lime syrup
Fill glass with Ginger Ale

Enjoy

Starting out with some bloodies and milk punch. A friend game me this simple milk punch recipe that's so very tasty.

1/2 gallon melted blue bell vanilla ice cream
1 cup bourbon
1/2 cup amaretto
nutmeg to sprinkle on top of each drink if desired

Mix all ingredients well. Can be frozen and defrosted.

Oooh, we always have Milk Punch at Thanksgiving and Christmas. I have two recipes, one very similar to above, the other without ice cream. My mother-in-law gave us some milk punch glasses for it for Christmas one year. It starts the day off right and tides you over from whatever you nibbled on at breakfast till the big meal in the afternoon.

I'm not much of a mixologist and this is so darn easy and good that I've stuck with it. Sometimes, I throw in some creme de cacao for good measure.

This year I have blue bell low fat no sugar added and they are still delicious. In fact, I think that's better. Might stick with it.

I just mixed up a few gallons and stuck them in the fridge. I'd like to just keep drinking them right now.

I just mixed up my milk punch. I use an old pitcher that was given to my parents for their silver wedding anniversary. It sat in a cupboard unused till I took over Thanksgiving and started serving this milk punch that is a the better half's family tradition.

4 cups whole milk
1 cup whiskey
1/4 cup sugar
dash of vanilla

Serve with a small sprinkle of nutmeg.

The Aunts add 1/2 cup vanilla ice cream and mix it in the blender, but I like it better without.

Here is what I mixed up. Whole family got loopy.

Artillery Punch

2 cups of sweet red wine
2 cups of strong tea
2/3 cup of rum
1/2 cup of packed brown sugar
1/2 cup of rye whiskey
1/2 cup of orange juice
1/3 cup of gin
1/3 cup of brandy
juice from one large lemon

Refrigerate and let set for several days.

Stir in one bottle of dry Champagne before serving.

*Edited for spelling.*

Glad you enjoyed it. It was a hit at our Thanksgving morning party as well. Ice cream is definitely the way to go. I made them with lowfat, low sugar Blue Bell and they were perfect.
