I searched and didn't see any recent threads on this. A few friends took me to get Thai food in Nola at la Thai and I loved it. I was really craving some tonight. Any suggestions for a decent Thai place in baton rouge?

I will be hitting up my favorite spot tonight as well. I hesitate to tell you the name because it is still somewhat unknown and I want to keep it that way. I'll be ther at 7:30ish. If I tell you the name you owe me a beer.

They have amazing Pad Thai.

Just screwing with you man.

The place is called Rama. Don't go to Thai Kitchen. I use to only go there but they pissed me off one day so I quit and was then introduced to Rama. It is soooo much better that TK.

Its a little place right next to little village. It's a hole in the wall, not super nice, and has slow service (only two little old ladies work there).
However, go there with the mentality of relaxing and sitting for a while and don't rush dinner. Relax for a bit and it's completely worth it.

Order the Rama Spicy for an ap, The Pad Thai (do you like spicy food, if so ask them to make it at about level 3 hottness) and get the fried bananas with coconut ice cream for desert.

That is exactly what I am ordering tonight.

The spicy Rama is pretty good but not amazing, still a solid ap shoice.

The pad thai and desert however are off the freaking charts. The coconut ice cream is made in house and is amazing. I never have left overs

I like Thai Pepper a lot. Used to go there pretty frequently when I worked downtown. Matter of fact, I prefer the buffet there to Thai Kitchen. The pad thai, vegetable curry, peanut chicken are all good.

Do not go to Thai Kitchen on Perkins. It's just not very good. More of a Chinese/thai fusion. The two battling restaurants are Rama and Thai Pepper on florida. Thai pepper is open for lunch and has a really awesome and fresh lunch buffet. Way better & more healthy than any chinese buffet. They're open for dinner, and they have peanut sauce chicken, which is da bomb

Rama is only open for dinner. They are really good, but if you go there on a busy night you will be there for hours. The service is rough on busy nights. That's why the poster above didn't want you to know about it. Seriously, go early in the week or early in the evening. The shrimp chips for appetizers are really good, and they have the best pad thai. The Rama Duck is awesome too.

I haven't tried Thai Chili yet but I hear it's good.

I liked both Thai Kitchen and Rama when I went there, but you won't find anything on the level of La Thai.

i used to work there. the owner does whatever possible to cut corners and increase his profits. once upon a time it was good. now, he cant keep a head cook to save his life.
oh, and they recycle your unused white rice. have fun with that!

I was there last night and it was only half full. I was pleasantly surprised.

Yes they still have lemon grass soup.
