Probably a combination of expensive rental costs, and not being able to survive on the weekday lunch crowd alone. NOt sure about everyone else, but we don't go out to that area for weekend dinner.

...and Burger King.
I used to eat at my favorite Baton Rouge restaurant, Ronnie's Ribs as I watched the cars wrap around the adjacent Burger King while I'd be the only one at RR. I guess Baton Rouge loves their fast food burgers far better than awesome ethnic food.

It's a heavily residential area, but I don't feel the lunch crowd is in that area.

Ahuaas- WTF? is that the indian place in front of Albertsons?
Jones creek - decent
Italian pie - place is a dungeon cant last much longer
Nagoya - 3 months tops before it closes if its not already closed - its a ghost town
portobellos - somehow keeps on going

Agree. I grew up in Central and always found it odd that people on this side of town considered that side of town to not be Baton Rouge (even though it is). But now that I live over here, I get it. People from that side of town come this way to do things, not the reverse. So restaurants here get both people who live nearby and people from across town, whereas restaurants over there mostly only get the folks who live there.

to be fair it was probably the same cars stuck in that line for hours since its the slowest drive thru around

Ronnie's ribs was incredible but they were so far tucked away, you'd never know they existed.

There are too many restaurants in that area. My parents have lived around there forever, yet I haven't tried more than half the restaurants. And there's no lunch crowd bc there's no large businesses nearby
