Looking for suggestions for a good sit down birthday dinner with the wife this evening in the baton rouge area. Just looking for some good food and atmosphere. Doesnt matter what type of cuisine. What do you recommend?

Ruth's
Maison Lacour
Ruffino's
Fleming's
Roberto's
Mansur's

Any of those will be good, fine dining experiences.

We've done most of those except Robertos and Fleming's. Might give one of those a go.

Go to to Robertos, support local. Keep the money in our community. Flemings sends all their cash to California.

alexander's i could see.

are you serious about Mestizo's? It's probably one of the worst places i have ever eaten in BR. I would recommend this place to no one.

Sure. It's not the best Mexican place, but Jim and his staff produce some good and uniquely different dishes with a Louisiana flair.

I agree it's decent, but not a "date night" kinda place IMO. Roberto's is a good choice.

We're big fans of DiGuilio's.
Beausoleil is a good bet too

Go to to Robertos

First time I ate at Roberto's was this weekend.

Negatives: Inside the building it was hot

Also, the crab cakes sucked. Do not order this item there. They come out cold with little crab actually in them. Looked like brown hockey pucks.

Positives: Brie and crab soup was on point. I should've gotten a bowl instead of a cup.

My entree was the white fish wrapped in paper with crab meat on top. Along with tasting great, it was tender and juicy.

Nobody at our table had the Roberto's steaks, but they looked good when passing our table.
