FYI: I noticed a bit of an herbal flavor in the last couple of batches. Still a great beer, but I went looking to see if anybody else noticed it, too. Here is what I found, straight from the brewer's mouth:

"We switched yeast suppliers and have found (the hard way) the strain is producing light phenolics at packaging after the third generation. Fortunately it is below most peoples threshold. Normally, the yeast is soft with notes of citrus and peach. We have switched back and next months batch will be back on course. Excited for this years hops to freshen up the next batches as well."

cheers,
Nick

That was on November 9th, so, I wasn't imagining it, and for those of you who noticed it, as well, now you know. This beer making stuff is hard.

Interesting. That is one of my all time favorite DIPAs.

Is that obtainable in BR, or are you getting that out of state? Great brew.

Mine, too. I was definitely picking up an almost Belgian IPA type spice note on the finish. Not sure if it was noticeable to you. So I started searching to see if anybody else noticed it, and found a thread on BA that Nick Arzner wrote in. So they are aware of the issue and are addressing it.

Beersnob - where did you try the beer?

ETA: The 11/17 batch was back on track, supposedly. The only one that I know of who got some of the batch is No8Easy. I did not get one from that batch, as I still had some of the 11/2 batch.

So, if No8 can comment on whether he caught any Belgian-like flavors on the back end...

Soon. Real soon...

If I'm not mistaken, Belmont Station, The Beermongers, Tin Bucket, Hop and Vine, etc... should have gotten some on Sunday. Since they increased production, the beer is hanging around for 4-5 days before it sells out.

Belmont Station should be updating their bottle list today, so you can check and see if they have any. Generally, they get the most.

I was reading a little more on this, and there are some that are saying that the 11/17 batch still has issues. So would be interested in No8's take.

I did not notice that in the cans you sent back in October.

Like I said, I noticed it for sure in the 11/2 batch. I may have gotten some in the mid-October batch, as well. Maybe 4miles might know, as I think he got some of the mid-October stuff.

Jax my cans are dated 11/17 and I'm happy to say i don't pick up on the herbal flavor within this batch, and while i've only sticky hands twice the other time being at the Jamboree i remember i had passed on to KJ that it was one of the beers that really stood out to me of all the ones we had shared that night, but i'm just not picking up Belgian IPA type spice note in this

For me this finish is somewhat semi-sweet, with orange, pine, dank hops and little pit of grapefruit bitterness. Also bit of pine also came through . Just fantastic brew!
but hell i'm far from being a Maven so all this pretty worthless
