You can pull copies of restaurants (chain or otherwise) from anywhere and place them in any location in BR. What restaurants would you pick and why?

Bud's Broiler on Government Street in between Foster and Acadian

Dolce Vita Pizza downtown on North near Galvez Plaza

Permanti Bros (Pittsburg) on State Street near Highland

Parkway Bakery and Tavern across the street from Radio Bar

5 Happiness where Great Wall used to be on College

A handful of good barbecue joints, a couple good gourmet pizza joints, and a solid Thai restaurant would be a great start.

I would be happy with just 1 Donald Link restaurant.

Podnuh's on Florida
Pit n Peel and Smokin' Aces on Government are practically across the street from one-another.

TBH, there definitely needs to be more BBQ joints that are better distributed around town.

Small plate/cocktail joints that don't suck.

Had truly probably one of the top two or three best bbq meals I've ever had there once. Went back, had maybe one of the worst. It has potential to be truly great.

This. And that aren't absurdly overpriced.

a spin off of your own thread?

besides this place reminding me of growing up in nola, its pretty crappy for a burger joint. It would probably kill

I would bring DiMartinos from nola and put it on Perkins. Just thinking of a smaller place that isnt very expensive. I think if you started bringing the top of the line nola stuff here they would fail.

A little off the restaurant topic but I would add in some neighborhood bars.

All I want is a Korean restaurant and a real Irish pub that knows how to pour a proper pint of Guinness and sells good fish and chips, full breakfasts and shepherd's pie.

Yep.

I hate to go all NO>BR, but I can go to a ton of places in NO with good small plates, interesting cocktails, good atmosphere, etc.

You just can't do that here. Of course, there is always the whole way that BR is set up.

Yeh that is just tough in BR. Those places can survive in NOLA because those places survive on "foot traffic". People that can walk to those restaurants from home. BR doesnt have that

This is true. Olive or Twist is a pretty cool spot, that is getting some good business now that Rum House is there, but still doesn't really get around as a small plate joint.

There are a few neighborhoods that can do that. Downtown is becoming more viable with all the residential developments out there plus the growing bar scene.
Perkins Road Overpass fits the bill as does Capitol Heights.

However, for the rest of the city? Not so much. The rest of town is basically just a bunch of semi-connected subdivisions where most people eat at chain restaurants or in the home for 90%+ of their meals.

Absolutely.

Also I always thought B.R. lacked in the diner area. Many of times I wanted to get a regular fried egg, bacon, hash brown, and toast breakfast but I always felt I had to go out of my way to find it. I was always used to little diners all over growing up and I grew up in Chalmette.

Cafe Habana City (Lafayette) placed anywhere in BR Metro. I'd settle for any Cuban, but CHC is the best I've had.
