The restaurant on Florida Blvd was flooded. Does anyone know if the owners plan to reopen anytime soon?

I hope so. Call me crazy, but I really like Sonnys. The AYCE dry rub ribs w/ 2 sides and Texas toast for $13.99 is unbeatable.

My dads favorite restaurant. Every time we would visit family in Florida we were in for at least 4 meals at Sonny's along the way and when we got there. Love it for the nostalgia

Great memories there. I grew up not too far from it.

I like it too.

The one in Athens GA used to have all you can eat BBQ chicken. Still might as far as I know.

No reopening date has been set, according to my source.

I'm missing it as well. I hate that it occurred this way, but that facility was in need of some drastic improvements. I wouldn't have objected to them moving. I'd like to see a solid BBQ option out towards Ascension. I haven't tried Hannah Q but the reviews seem to suggest I won't be rushing over there to waste my money.

Baton Rouge is in dire need of a reasonable priced barbecue place. Went last night to Whole Foods they wanted $14.00 for 2 meats and 2 sides. Used to be $9.99 on Fridays.

Sonny's isn't the greatest BBQ in the area, but I do love that place.

I hope they come back soon.

That Sonnys has been in Brandon for a looooong time. Its okay, but in Mississippi, you can find better BBQ. My personal favorite is Chimneyville, I assume it's still open.

In BR though, there are no good BBQ options. None. Some are passable but not "good."

The closest to great that I've found are Tramonte's Saturday special ribs.

Picked up Couyons pulled pork and brisket for my Dad's birthday dinner, and everyone enjoyed it. And the folks I dealt with ordering and picking up couldn't have been any nicer.

I've never picked up catering from Couyons, but I have from voodoo. And I will say this, a larger catering order is 1000x better than eating at the place. Not sure why that is, but it consistently seems to be that way.

Also, it's way out of my way, but Big Jakes BBQ in St. Gabriel is delicious, just not convenient

Update to my earlier post: source has clarified that it should reopen in "a couple of months".
