My daddy passed me down 4 cast iron pots he had. Two were from late 60s or early 70s. He cooked many a camp sauce picante in them. The only thing daddy EVER cleaned them with was a dish rag, coarse salt, and a little water. then he would rinse them put them back on the fire until dry and every second or third time he would rub them with some oil. I still use the same method on the same pots.
