Headed to San Francisco for the first time in 2 weeks. What is the best Chinese restaurant in Chinatown?

Brandy ho's just outside Chinatown on Columbus. It's incredible.
I guess people are just downvoting me on principle because the place has great food.

not in Chinatown, but go to PPQ Dungeness Island for some peppercorn crab, garlic noodles and sizzling beef

It depends on what you are looking for.
For American-Chinese: The House of Nanking is good.
There are a few authentic places that don’t have any English on the door.
Reds bar for a mid day/afternoon beer.

We did a late lunch at House of Nanking several years ago. We enjoyed it...just told them to feed us, and I added a few dishes.

China Live is incredible in a new, 'clean' space. At the other end of the spectrum as far as atmosphere look into Good Mong Kok.

Hunan Homes or House of Nanking. Americanized Chinese food
Mister Jiu’s. New aged Chinese food may be the best way to describe it. Whatever it is, it’s good
Z&Y. Spicy sechuan style Chinese food.
R&G Lounge. Get the fried crab

Had a great meal here.

I like the Great Eastern and the R&G Lounge. The food at Yuet Lee is delicious but it is a casual dive. Wherever you go for dinner, have cocktails or an after dinner drink at the Li Po Lounge.

If you have a car, do yourself a favor and head 15 miles south to Millbrae and the Shanghai Dumpling House. Also, as a native of the area, believe me when I say, Clement Street, can rival anything you can get in China Town.

Took a bus to Chinatown, I’d be standing on Canal

- Begoni Bistro is the best example of classic Chinese, in my opinion. Hunan's Home, across the street, is very good, too, but better for groups.
- China Live is a fantastic experience. Bit more modern and I'll always stop in their market on the way out.
- City View has awesome dim sum, but it can take time. I prefer going to Dim Sum Bistro, which is across the street from China Live.

Thanks for all of the recommendations! Since I will only have time to eat at one restaurant, I've got a big decision to make.
