Salt Lake City food and local brews

I'll be in SLC tomorrow night before returning home on Friday. Looking for a place to grab a local brew something good to eat. Maybe even try to watch a lil football too. Close to the airport is preferable, but not required. TIA

It's been a few years, but I'm not sure about the laws now. All they used to sell is what is called "near beer", which is the 3.2% alcohol, usually Coors light. Beer and Mormons are strange bedfellows.
Also, unless the laws have changed, we couldn't order sake or beer for lunch until after 1pm. Apparently, they don't want people having an adult cocktail and then going back to work. It sucked for us because we were on vacation and wanted to drink.
fwiw, I've skied all around the country and SLC is my absolute favorite skiing destination. Snowbird, Alta, Park City, Park West, Brighton, Solitude, Sundance, etc., all within 45 mins of the city.
Have fun!

Another poster and I are headed there this weekend. If you discover anything great, update this post.
Due to near-beer issues learned on a trip to Park City, I am bringing an ice chest to store product from state stores, where they sell higher ABV beers.

Planning to hit both Wasatch and Squatters Brewpubs. Squatters even has a location in the airport. Sadly, I think these spots only serve near beer.

make the 30 minute ride to Park City.....that is your best bet.
There will probably be a fall shutdown but still enough open to make it worth your while.

Go to the Red Iguana for mole. It's pretty close to the airport. Epic is the best brewery up there IMO. If you're into big stouts the Big Bad Baptist is damn good.

Only in locations only licensed to serve beer. If they can serve liquor, they can serve above 3.2%, normal beer.

Whiskey Street is my go to. Downtown SLC, great cocktails, solid Beer List. Can serve everything, usually has sports on and the food is very good.
Beer Bar/Bar-X in downtown SLC. Maybe 15 minutes from the airport. Decent food too.
Also, Piper Down. Wasatch is pretty good, food can be lacking but the beer selection is good. Note: You cannot do a flight of tastes.
Red Iguana is super good Mexican food as well, so that's a good suggestion.

While Park City is an awesome town, SLC is an awesome city.
OP, I didn't really eat out much while there, but the Red Rock Brewery and eatery downtown was pretty great. Their pizzas were top notch, and if you like IPAs Elephino DIPA is fantastic. Just make sure no matter where you go you order bottles and/or cans, all draft beer is <3%.

Bayou is the best craft beer bar in SLC. As long as you buy bottles, the low ABV draft beer rules don't apply.

Yeah Bayou is great. The only problem I've had there is looking over their extensive list to pick a beer only to be told that it's out of stock. Happens all the damn time

Solid Beer list. Food is hit or miss, and yeah don't try the Louisiana dishes.
