Sad day for SWLA folks - Hackett's Cajun Kitchen closed permanently

I'd imagine Hebert's opening up in southwest Lake Charles gave them a decent hit. Can't imagine why they wouldn't try to sell though.

That is sad. Family owned businesses rarely survive second and later generations. I loved this place when I first moved to the area in 1993 but sadly it just hasn't been the same since Mr. Hackett passed what nearly 10 yrs ago?

I had all my deer meat processed with them until around 2008 or so when we had some issues.

I enjoyed their lunch buffet when I was over that way.

Damn that sucks. Had some great plate lunches back in the day.

That smothered beef roast was crucial and lawd did they give you enough to eat? I’d like rice. 3 heaping scoops of rice and enough brown gravy to choke a dog.

that is very sad. that sausage & rice with red gravy was my lunch so many times
