Wow, ate there hundreds of times growing up as I lived off David Dr. I would believe that the owners will rebuild unless offered an insane amount of money for the land

I used to go there all the time especially when it first opened. Now there are dozens of places to get fancy gourmet hamburgers. They were one of the first. Back then it was a novelty to have a burger that much upscale from McDonalds.

I miss that place.
The one in Baton Rouge shut down about 30 years ago.
A friend bought a set of the table and chairs when the property was sold. I have that set now.

You didn’t get any pewter mugs?

Did they still have the reel to reel tape playing tunes? That thing amazed me as a kid. Their burgers set the standard way back when.

Why the hell would they do that?
That was part of the experience.
Pewter plates and mugs.
Peanuts.
Grated cheese.

That's what "Ground Pat'i" was.

3124 David Drive is Metairie

Will be interesting to see the cause of fire since GP is closed on Mondays ... wiring issue, electrical shortage from faulty appliance, arson by disgruntled employee ?

"Fire officials said the building was deemed a total loss. Two longtime employees of the restaurant said they had spoken with the restaurant’s owners, who expressed their hope to rebuild and reopen the bar and grill in a little over a year."

I agree 1000%, just stating that the LAF location uses plastic mugs and other locations may have done the same.
Possibly a corporate decision, perhaps the company who made the mugs went out of business due to covid ? I honestly have no clue other than I too miss the pewter mugs.

If that location was anything like Lafayette than this is probably for the best.

Nope, just a table and 4 captains chairs.

I love those chairs.

Houma location has been plastic for a while. I'm in the minority apparently because I hated the pewter mugs. Instant ice melt and watered down drinks.

It will be re-opening soon in Rivertown at the former location of Porch and Patio.

The building on David Dr is just slab now. I heard something else was going there but forgot. Does anyone know?
