I don't mind mashed potatoes, but I'll tell you when it's completely out of the question and that's with roast, rice, and gravy, especially a good chuck roast. Something about that combination that is beyond compare.

A tater man will swear that with a fine roast and gravy, it's a travesty not to serve mashed potatoes heavy with black pepper and garlic. Touché .
