Went there over the weekend and had the Barbequed Oysters for an appetizer. They were ridiculously good and I had to give my props....

Anyone else ever had them?

That is the best non-dessert dish in that restaurant. Otherwise, I am not the biggest fan of that place, but its solid.

They serve that dish at a lot of festivals (Satchimo Fest for sure) so be on the look out for it.

ETA: I cringe every time Fitzmorris whores himself out to the Brennan family and pimps this restaurant and Bourbon House as if they are upper tier restaurants in this city when they clearly are not.

I think that Red Fish and Bourbon House are terrible. They are definitely the bottom rung on the Brennan ladder.

I agree...of all the restuarant to pimp on his show, he picks Bourbon House...good oyster bar and good bourbon selection...terrible otherwise.

Agree...The Red Fish was really a bad tourist trap...did not like one thing I ate there....never went back.

Re: Bourbon House... went in there Friday night because it was convenient, and we just needed a drink and an appetizer while waiting to meet some friends. We got the Crab Fingers Bordelaise, and they were literally the best food we ate all weekend. Can't say anything about the other menu items, but the crab fingers were great.

Yea, I agree. Everything else I got there was pretty unimpressive. Ordered some sweet potato and crab soup, which was bland and hardly had any crab meat. If I ever go back, the barbequed oysters will probably be the only thing I order.

A great way to try a lot of the what the city has to offer is appetizer hopping and getting just one or two apps at each place at the bar with/without a cocktail wine.

For instance, in that area: BBQ Oysters at Red Fish, Raw Oysters topped with caviar at Bourbon House, Gumbo Ya Ya at Mr. B's, Seafood Martini and Scallop stuffed artichoke at Pelican Club, and White Chocolate Bread Pudding at Palace Cafe.

The Warehouse District and the CBD are great places to do this too.

ETA: It allows you to get the best dish (or dish the restaurant is famous for) without having to deal with otherwise lacking food.
