Currently in market for a new coffe maker/system. Currently just use a kuerig that I've had for a solid 6 years. Thinking of switching to one of the ninja like machines you see advertised. I drink just plane Jane black coffee in morning. My wife however has a PJ's addiction that's running about 4 bucks a day or so, that's where something like ninja would be nice, she could make iced coffee. Idea of broad selection compared to being tied to only k cups seems awesome too. Single cup is my go to but on weekends the pot is nice.

Thoughts, anyone have any experience with these stations?

I got a Hamilton Beach 49980A two-way maker that I really like, and I do what you are asking (single cup in the morning and a pot on Saturday morning). It doesn't use pods or anything, so I just use Community.

I think it was around $80 on Amazon.

We were gifted a ninja coffee bar. We just use it for normal coffee but there's cold brew too. Full pot, half pot, travel mug, and single cup settings.

It's not bad. Might need to start using paper filters on it though. Too many coffee grounds get in with the filter that came with it

if she just wants ice coffee/cold brew. Get a toddy

if she wants the full set up, get a ninja or nespresso. I don't have experience with the full bar Ninja's so I cannot comment on the quality of the espresso drinks. Amazon reviews seem positive

I am pretty pro-french press but I do agree having a full pot is nice on the weekends. Also, if she is downing cold brew like I do, a french press is going to provide enough.

Thanks for all the info fellas. As far as French press when it comes to making ice, it's comparable if not better than say pj's or any other coffee house? Only downside is don't think it has ability to be prepped and put on auto like a kuerig, regular coffee pot or the kuerig system? Correct?

It's a fire drill for the family in morning and don't know if I would take time to use French press and if I wouldn't, i know she really wouldn't.

I'm a huge french press proponent, but it's not for you. Unless you will enjoy taking 10 minutes to brew a great few (I think mine makes four 8oz) cups of coffee, it's not going to be worth the aggravation.

True iced coffee has to be steeped overnight and/or something like 8-10 hours.

You can do it in a French press just the same as you can in a toddy. It just occupies you press for 12-20 hours.

Ninja over the French press then. I am sure you can pre-fill the pot the night before so it's ready when you wake up.

I bought a bonavita about 2 months ago and it's kind of bare bones, but it makes a great cup of coffee.

It's certified by the specialty coffee assoc of America. The first one I had was the bunn that is certified by them as well. The bunn takes about 10-15 min to make a cup. The bonavita takes about 5 min and comes with the thermal carafe.

It's about $180, but I found it on clearance at bed bath and got the extra 20% off. Paid $80 for it. There are no timers or anything, but like I said it's pretty quick. So if you put your grinds and hit the button it's done in like 5 min.

The certified deal, means the pot actually gets the water up to the appropriate temps for the best brews.

Always have the French press and the drip deals which probably make overall better coffee. But, for a pot and under $200 this little thing is pretty good.

We had the keurig machine for years and the coffee just didn't taste very good. Always seemed weak. It was one of the original ones so now maybe there are settings or something where you can adjust the strength. We drink coffee every morning and generally every evening. We broke down and spent the coin getting a moccamaster. Makes incredible coffee. We aren't OT ballers but we splurge on a few things here and there. Here;s a link to one on Amazon.
