Stay in Mandeville or better yet Covington and drive to it. Unless you're renting a house on the Bayou there is not much to do or enjoy in Lacombe. Nature is the sell in Lacombe, not the shopping or coffee shops.

Try VRBO for a spot in Old Mandeville.

Yeah there are plenty of nice B&B's in old Mandeville. No hotels though.

Be sure to check out Sal & Judy's as well -- quite possibly the best Italian you'll find in LA

Quite possibly the best restaurant in the state. EVERYTHING there is exceptional.

Check out Fountainbleu State Park on the east side of Mandeville while you are here.

Thanks for the recs good people...
I've eaten Sal and Judy's and it delicious. I got us a BnB in Mandeville. Does the north shore have Uber? Anyway to get a ride from Mandeville to La Provence?

Fountainbleu state park has camps to rent on the lake. Park is nice with nice nature trails. It is a nice alternative to consider.

(At least the did 10 years back)

Also suggest the mandeville lakefront area if there is anything in that area. Like a poster mentioned they might have a bed and breakfast

I'm guessing you haven't ever tried to rent these. It's very hard. These camps over the lake book up stupid fast. Seems like a great idea though.

Is there a specific Italian item in the menu you find better than anywhere else in LA?

The Southern Hotel in downtown Covington would be a nice place to stay as well. Has a few good breakfast spots within walking distance too.
