McGuire's is gross. If you want an Irish Pub, go to O'Riley's on Palafox. Also in Pensacola proper, Jackson's Steak house is a do not miss. I'm also very fond of of Union Publix House. It's more of a bar setting and can get loud, but really good food, especially if you opt for several of their small plates/appetizer. Other options:
Restaurant Iron
Global Grill
Dharma Blue

eta-- lunch only but excellent: Carmen's wine bar

These are all in Pensacola, not out on the beach.

Pensacola Beach: Grand Marlin for upscale casual, Peg Leg Pete's for very casual. Grand Marlin is the best dining on the island IMO. Peg Leg's is fun and the food is underrated.

Pensacola Proper: Global Grill or Dharma Blue

Took the family to Casino Beach during the summer and it was pretty good. We sat outside so it was great for the kids to run around on the beach front.

I actually had a great meal at Flounders when I went. Crazy how they can serve that amount of people and the quality is actually decent.

Can confirm. It is a very nice special occasion, white tablecloth, type of place. It's been a few years, but I recall having a very good steak there. My son had a very good Beef Wellington entree.

McGuires for anything on the menu.

Joe Patti's will steam fresh seafood for takeout, and they have a restaurant next door for fresh seafood meals.

Hard to beat either.

A lot of good places listed here. I agree with poster who doesn’t like McGuire’s. It’s not horrible, it just does’t live up to the reputation. They do have a pretty good brunch though. And I’m not a fan of a lot of the Beach restaurants. Most are typical tourist traps and you can wait for hours (literally, Peg Leg Pete’s) for a table, maybe not now though. Try Paradise Bar & Grill, an open-air bar, beautiful views of the Sound, live music and above average (lotsa fried) bar fare.

Pensacola? Ditto Grand Marlin. Always really good. Just stroll down Palafox St. Global Grill and Jackson’s (both excellent) are there, plus a lot more. We go down there most Friday’s for dinner, then Cigar Factory for drinks, a cigar for me, sit on the sidewalk and people watch. If you want to go cheap on Palafox, try The Dog House. Interesting hot dog concoctions, sandwiches.

A couple I didn’t see mentioned and are favorites of mine: George Bistro + Bar. They take their food VERY seriously and if you’re into cocktails, they always have some good ones. Five Sisters Blues Cafe is fantastic southern food. Known for their fried chicken, but everything is very, very tasty.
