It's a terrible concept imo. If I want to drive to get pizza, I generally don't want to then drive home and wait for it to cook. The pizzas are pretty good but nothing special to go out of your way for, either.
I never understood it either ? It was doomed to fail from the start.

I see what isn't your stong suit... I said you can buy them while shopping. Pass by and decide you want one for later. Doesnt have to be cooked right away
They're intended to be eaten the same day, so I was responding to the people who talked about not wanting to leave the house to get a pizza that is cooked at home.
But I guess in those instances where you decide to go to walmart on the same day you're also going to have pizza for dinner, yes, Papa Murphy's may not be necessary. If you're just looking to go out and grab something for dinner, Papa Murphy's might be the better option, as you don't have to deal with walmart.

I can think of situations to get Papa Murphy's that sound good in theory, but in execution I end up opting for a cooked pizza from a pizza joint (if pizza is decided last minute) or a pizza from a grocery store (if I'm planning pizza days in advance).
I've always liked the pizza when I've had it; the business model just isn't on my radar. The only location was also further from my house than probably 10 pizza restaurants.

Those pizzas were tasty but an instant laxative both times I have eaten it.

They failed here in FL too. A shame, the best thin crust pizza in our area. The whole take and bake thing didn't seem to go over well.

I'm a fan of Papa Murphy's, we still have them here in Austin.
The pizza itself is delicious, and it's cheap. Plus you get to eat it fresh out of the oven.
They also sell huge side salads, 2 for $7.

I want to say at one point or another, Arkel Construction brought the concept to Baton Rouge.
Not sure what their involvement is/was today.

See lawsuit of Arkel foods vs. Papa Murpheys... Maybe it all came to head finally

A friend of mine is part owner with her parents and they have never made a profit. I see no point in paying full price if I gotta cook it too. It's not that good.

I think some of the biggest issues after reading the Forbes article about them was corporate requiring franchisees to do a very expensive remodel of all locations and when they instituted a $5 pizza which was killing profits.

Ok, excuse my language. If I want pizza I buy it cooked, I don't need another vendor to sell me an uncooked pizza. Sorry to offend so many of serious Papa Murphy fans, don't worry, you will get past this

Papa Murphy's was very decent pizza. Better than any supermarket fare, better than Domino's et. al. I'm sorry to see it go. I'd eat there every couple of months.
For a real shitshow, look no further than Noble Romans. They had a location on Coursey for a few months. The owner was a nice guy, but when I got the pizza home, it sucked worse than a Digiorno. That place deserved to fail. Papa Murphy's, not so much.
That said, what do I know. I've just about concluded my favorite pizza in BR is a Costco slice of pep. In particular, after the novelty has begun to wind down, Lit Pizza is not wearing that well on my palate. It's just OK. Same for Red Zeppelin, Grimaldis, etc. At Mellow Mushroom, I prefer their Italian hoagie to the pizza. That sandwich is money.

We liked the pizzas. I'd rather cook it at home. Good pizza for the price.

When they ran their $10 large 5 meat stuffed pizza and 3 grown men could eat with some leftovers, THAT was a value for what you got. Pizzas were just huge !

I can't understand how this concept doesn't make money. Those pizzas weren't cheap and they can't cost much per pie and the stores were bare bones as it gets. They should be printing money.

Their corporate management must be a bunch of straight retards.

As someone mentioned earlier in the thread, the idea is good in theory but it just never crossed my radar. Either I am making a last minute decision to get pizza and want it hot/now, or I plan it in advance and buy one while getting groceries. There haven't really been times where it was convenient to drive to PM's and get a pizza to take home and cook. If I lived next door to one, it might be different.
If I was having people over and planning to provide food without cooking, it would be a good option. But then again, I can't think of any times I have people over without it being centered around a cookout of some kind.
