Opinion on Induction Ranges?

So I'm toying around with the idea of getting a freestanding induction range and have been eyeing these two:
Kenmore or Frigidaire
My current electric glass top is crapping out on me (broiler no longer works) and I'm tired of the inconsistent heat. So in my mind, my upgrade options are (1) induction or (2) gas. The problem with going gas is that I'd have to get a plumber involved as my kitchen does not have a gas line in it. I got a quote on running gas to my kitchen a few years back and it was in the neighborhood of $500, so I'd budget $600 to get the job done today. And I could get a decent gas range for less than $1k so really I'd be spending roughly the same amount with either option. The induction is attractive because it would simply be plug and play (the low end models I'm considering are in the $1500 range). Cookware isn't an issue for me as I'd only have to replace a couple of pieces that wouldn't be compatible. Anyway, just wanted to get opinions from those that have gone this route. Even better if anyone has personal experience with the two linked or models that are in the price range of $1500 or less. I'd imagine the trade-off is in the oven and broiler, but I'm not sure.

I don't have experience with a free standing range but I have a Kenmore 30 inch range and is fantastic. Much better control than gas.

I have that kenmore range and I love it. You will have to relearn how to cook on it because it gets HOT fast. The hi is too high to leave a pot on its own for very long. The high temp is great for searing though. I can put a solid sear on a roast or steak in just a couple of minutes.

All i know is my parents have one and at 3.5 it can't boil water, but at 3.6 it is boiling water like it's on the fricking sun. There is nothing in between.

Are you happy with the oven and broiler? I don't bake much but I do like to use the broiler a decent amount.

We have this Kenmore Pro and love it. It is pretty easy to regulate the temp and the double convection oven is also very nice.

Yeah. The broiler is very good. The low and the hi settings are very quick to get to temp and the element is evenly spread around the top of the oven. Overall, very satisfied with the kenmore.

I have been cooking on a Thermador Induction cooktop for the last 1.5 years. Before that I had a Dacor and Woolf gas ranges.
I like to cook on gas, but I hate the cleanup and the difficulty in holding a simmer.
Induction crushes gas on these two criteria. I had to ditch a wok and interestingly, an All Clad asparagus steamer that both do not work with induction.
My induction cook top and adjustments from 1-9 in .5 increments as well as a boost feature that can boil a pot of water incredibly fast.
There is also almost no spillover heat on induction so the kitchen doesn't get as hot when you are cooking.

I bought that Frigidaire you have linked recently. I love it. It is so much better than the glass-electric unit it replaced. Much more precision with temperature and clean up is a snap.

After 16 years I now don't miss my gas range b/c of this.

Last house we had a Thermador induction hob. We put it in when a Jenn-Air ceramic electric coil hob went bad. I loved it, even though I had wanted gas at the time, but there was no gas line in that kitchen. I moved to another house almost 4 years ago, and the kitchen features a DCS commercial quality gas range. It is beautiful, and I can do anything on it, but for induction hob did everything I needed in addition to being easier to clean, easier to maintain a simmer, quicker to boil water and had much less of an effect on ambient room temperature. Aside from the obvious limitation of cookware material, induction has very few drawbacks in my book. I use mostly cast iron, enameled cast iron, carbon steel and SS cookware anyway, so the cookware deal never was a big deal to me.

That's pretty much my cookware setup exactly, sans the carbon steel. I hope to remedy that soon too.

I'd like to try induction cooking on a stand-alone single cooktop. Anyone have any experience with a particular brand?

I bought and earthchef brand induction single cooktop on amazon to test out the concept before I made the jump to the full cooktop.
I don't remember being too impressed with it and almost changed my mind until I tested a Woolf induction at their showroom in Houston.
I don't think it put out enough BTU's.
