A few questions about everyone's technique

Cut in half?
Peel a layer or two before you drop in boil?
When do you drop in boil?

I cut in half and put in at the beginning. The onion is one of my favorite parts of a boil. Use regular yellow onions.

Just cut in half. No need to really do anything else

Goes in at the beginning

I halve a potato the stack piece of onion, piece of garlic and squeeze a little head juice on it. My wife makes fun of me all the time because that's all i pretty much eat when I'm done cooking.

I peel the dry skin off and quarter them. I usually will drop them in about 5 min before I put the crawfish in.

We cut in quarters, wrap a piece if tin foil loosely around it, we find that they soak up the seasoning better in quarters, the tin foil holds them together

I do nothing at all. Just drop them in. But, I also put them in early with the potatoes and have them at a roiling boil for 15 minutes. I Love the onions, potatoes, and garlic extremely soft and mushy. Just a personal preference

I always do my veggies and sausage before, I don't eat the onions but my family loves the small baby onions i usually just drop the entire bag in and boil it

Close. It's easier to cut in half before peeling.
