Old Smokey Electric Smoker

I got one of these from Academy last year for $90, it was a floor model and had a dent, so I got a good deal. At first I didn't think much of it, I was going to cut a hole in it and use a secondary smoke source for low heat smoking, like my hams and sausages.
However this thing has turned into my primary BBQ tool. Since it is a closed system you only use a handful of chips and it smokes all day. Some people said it didn't produce a good bark, very wrong, I get a beautiful crust on ribs, Boston butts and brisket.
I likely would not have bought it at full price $150-$200 and I would have missed out. The heating element is just like an electric flying pan, so you can remove it when you are finished. I have added a thermometer and 2 extra racks for making jerky. It is aluminum and easy to clean.

I had something similar a couple of years ago. It was a three level bullet smoker with a water pan. I would lite up hot coals in my chimney starter pour them in the bottom, add some wet wood chips to the top and smoke every meat I could get my hands on and just make an afternoon of it with friends. Some of the best times. You have inspired me to buy another one...
