What really aggravates me is the 2-piece sashimi bull shite. I have to spend a small fortune to get full on tuna and yellow tail.
I pretty much only eat sashimi/nigiri (unless I'm at Sushi Yama with amazing rolls) and I hate the price too. I completely see where the price is necessary, but it's expensive to eat that stuff.
My advice: Eat sushi at lunchtime instead of dinnertime. That's really the case with all upper-end types of food, but especially sushi. Every sushi restaurant offers bento boxes and sushi lunch specials. You can get a special with soup, assorted sashimi, a roll, etc. for $10.
