NEW African Resturant in BR

Ate lunch at Tase of Africa today. It's on Monterry blvd at the corner of great smokey. For those not too familiar with that area, it's between south Choctaw and Greenwell Springs rd. You can't miss the sign.
The lady that owns the place is from the motherland. very small menu.
I had the Moi Moi appetizer, was jusst ok. It did come with some fried plantains which were good.
I also tried the african stew which is supposed to come with 2 choices of meat. Not sure if that means you get 2 or you can choose between 2 because we never talked about it. She served me chicken and it was quite good. THe red stew gravy was nice and spicy with a little bit of fire.
I will go back to try a few more things. I have eaten at the African/Ethiopian spot on decatur I think it is in the quarter a few time. It's not on par with that but it's worth trying out.
I do not think she will make it too long though. IMO she's in a graveyard building and the location isn't going to draw the crowd to make her successful. There were 2 southern professors in there eating, both from the motherland.
If you want to try it I would suggest going sooner, than later.

I'm curious, but does it seem clean? That part of town isn't really something I think of when I think of legit dining. A lot of half-assed, rigged up businesses..
Is it Ethiopian? African culture confuses me because it seems like there would be more distinction between areas of the continent. Like "european food" could mean French, Spanish, Italian, etc.. or God forbid it could mean English.

Look, I understand anyone's desire for privacy. But, Goddamnit, where do you live? And, how old are you? That tells me something about who is speaking.
Is there a reason for withholding this basic information? If so, educate me. Seriously.

Yes it was very clean. I even looked in the kitchen while she was making my food. I had left and came back in a few so i walked into the kitchen area to tell her I was back.
The area is not bad at all. It's still mixed but maybe 60/40 with the non anglos being the 60. The area is in transition. Park Forest that is directly behind it is getting darker but it's working people who are just trying to live a good life like most of us here.
I did get a menu and heres what is on it
Apps... beef suya 1.50, moi-moi 1.50 , plantain 3.00 and stock fish 8.99
Stews (served with two choices of meat)... African stew with white rice 6.99
jolof rice 6.99
fried rice 6.99
soups 6.99 (served with fufu or eba)..ogbonor, okra, egusi,
pepper soup is 3.99
The menu says she does catering.
I will be going back and trying some of the soups and the jolof rice.
Maybe Mamma from silver moon and the African Queen at this place can have a throwdown. I guess that will be my next utube project.

It's it done right it's good. She used black eye peas and thres some sort of beef in it too. This was not a pudding type dish, the mixture of blended blackeyes, spices, onion and the beef were deep fried and had a red gravey on top.
Mine was not the best but I did not eat it right off and it cooled down. I suspect it would have been better if I had eaten it when it was hot.
