need to transport a kamado joe - advice

bought a used big arse kamado joe and need to move it to my house about 2 miles away. Any advice or tips on not breaking the thing? It is in a cart and weighs about 250 pounds.

Take the insides out, then take it out of the cart.

Take it out of the cart. Take everything out of it including firebox. Put a folded towel between the lid and the bottom so the lid doesnt open then slam hard onto itself. Strap it down. Doesn't have to be really tight.
I traveled with mine about 100 miles like this and turned out fine.

There are webbing type straps that are made specifically for moving something like that.

I have the ratcheting tie down straps. I was trying to figure out if I should leave it in the cart and strap it like that or take it out of the cart and remove the guts - sounds like the latter.

Did you buy that one in bocage? I looked at one yesterday there.

Yep. Have to take it out of the cart unless you can roll it into a trailer
I rolled my egg into an inclosed trailer but it was in a table, not a cart so there was minimal chance of it tipping over.

When I bought my large egg, I set it on the front seat and used the seat belt to strap it in.

I know with a green egg you can take it apart and lighten the load quite a bit. Nothing you want to lift awhile but it's doable
As a former mover, straps like these are a life saver. You can safely move just about anything
