Seriously, how the frick do they do it??? It is head and shoulders above any steak I have ever tried, and its not even close.

I've been four times, and everytime I'm scared that its not going to live up to my memory, but I have never been disappointed.

Took my girlfriend's parents when they went down for my graduation, and they were blown away. They've eaten in five star restaurants all over the world, and they said it was the best steak they've ever eaten.

Just thinking about this cause a friend of mine who hasn't eaten there said he doesn't believe that anything can be THAT much better than Ruth's Chris.

I am crazy, or is Lester's just on another level?

That's the only problem. Its really out in the middle of nowhere. Its in Cypress Bayou Casino in Baldwin, about 45 minutes south of Lafayette.

It sucks because the last thing you want to do after eating there is get in the car and drive almost an hour, but it is WELL worth it. I think its also just about an hour and a half from New Orleans if you go on Highway 90.

They don't have a hotel at the casino right now, but they are building one. Its actually a nice casino, so if they ever build a hotel out there, I am going to lose untold amounts of money on dinner and a night in the hotel. Seriously, its worth it.

If you are anywhere within two hours, I highly recommend making a night of it. If not, get a hotel in Lafayette for a night and drive out there. You won't be disappointed.

From what I understand, it's not that good compared to a lot of upscale steak joints.

It's one of the best steaks that I have had. The lambs chop out there are incredible too. They opened a new Asian Japanese restaurant RIKRAK, in Cypress Bayou. We ate out there before a Collective Soul concert and the sushi was awesome.

I wish they would get better concerts out there because we would go and eat out there more often.

Mr Lester's gets two thumbs up from me.

It's the best steak you'll get anywhere in Louisiana, but like you said the location sucks.

Wow, I honestly have never talked to anyone to didn't rave about it. Who told you this? Can their opinion be trusted. Seriously, I would try it for yourself before you take someone else's word for it.

The only thing I can say is I have always gotten the pepper crusted filet. I only get filets at top notch nice steak places. Maybe your friend got a ribeye or something, but the cut of filet is just indescribable. If you get the pepper crust, ask for just a light crust, because it really doesn't need much seasoning at all, and it you get it too heavy it might actually take away from the meat.

Just try it man. It isn't even any more expensive than Ruth's, so cost shouldn't be an issue if you're down for a good steak.

I agree........Ruth's Chris doesn't come anywhere close to Lester's.

Lester's has the best steaks I've ever eaten.

It really is pretty crazy that this amazing establishment is sitting out in the middle of nowhere in Baldwin, LA. It sucks that so many people who live so close have never been motivated to go. You really do have to experience it, and it isn't too expensive for a great steakhouse. No more than Ruth's or anything similar. Everyone out there who loves to eat good food.....

it truly is superb. EVERYTHING basically is made on site from teh breads to the deserts. Friend of mines wife is was Chef at the Chicago Commodities Exchange Club and she loves to hit it up,especially the creme broullet with a snifter of chambord for desert b4 the coffee with a side plate of mocoa beand, sugar sticks, cinamon sticks, praulines and chocolate covered cherries.................RIK RAK is superb as well and is NOT just sushi, it is Asian Fusion like no where else in Louisiana. Finally their new Mexican fine dinning experience LOCO has to be tried to believe.

THATS IT. I am going to have to go check this place out. I have eaten at all kinds of great steakhouse including Bones in Atlanta and Charlies in Dallas. No matter where I go, I always go back to Ruths. For some reason there beef seems better than anyones. But after reading this post and listening to my cousin scream in my ear about Mr. Lesters. There is no question that will go check it out

Haven't eaten at Charlie's, but I've had Ruth's and Bones in ATL and Lester really is in a league of its own.

If you think the quality of beef is good at Ruth's you won't believe Lester's. They have to have the cows right next to the casino. There is nothing but farm land all around that place.

Been hearing stories about this place for many years and still have never made the trip. I still can't comprehend how their steaks are so superior to other high class places.

This. It is good but this hyperbole needs to be wrangled in a bit. I've had better steaks at Keith Young's in Madisonville. Best restaurant in the area no doubt, but I would not go anywhere near as far as some in this thread are going.
