I'm taking a date to the Movie Tavern tonight. Any tips would be appreciated, as I've never been.

What are the best drinks and food items at this place?

The "Grown Up Root Beer Float" sounds interesting.

The drinks were not too bad. We got some of the special frozen drinks that tasted pretty good.

Stay away from the sliders... they even try to say they are kobe beef sliders. Dry as frick!!!

We got fried pickles that were ok

Cut a hole in the bottom of the popcorn bucket. You can thank me later.

We got the sliders and pizza last time, as part of that 2 for $25 deal. That wasn't really worth it.

You can get water for free, so you don't have to buy soft drinks if you don't want to.

When I go back again, I will get the big bucket of popcorn and a plate of nachos (to share). Those looked amazing.

I had a friend tell be the beer deal with the huge mug wasnt really that good of a deal, so you may want to keep that in mind.

Damn, the google reviews are mostly horrible. Is the customer service really slow and bad?

Your not going for the food in my opinion.

Just the setup alone is worth paying 10 bucks to see a movie. Its the most comfortable you will get watching a movie at the theater. We got there about 15 minutes before and orders our food and drinks. She checked on us several times. I got refills when needed.

i also sat towards the front by the handicap section. I could see service being bad if you sat in the way back

drink, don't eat
get your beer at the bar and carry it in, don't annoy everyone ordering from your seat

catch a buzz, watch the flick, then go get dinner

I would agree with this. Recliners in the theater are awesome.

I thought the service was fine, about on par with your typical chili's experience.

Honestly, I unless they aren't playing the movie I want to see at MT, I probably won't be back to the theater at the mall or in Perkins Rowe. Especially once the new Alamo Drafthouse is built.

Alamo Drafthouse

will this be in Rouzan? That is literally one block from my house. I was told that they will not have new releases or any new movies associated with certain companies.

it will be indie films or old movies

The food is fine as long as you don't expect too much.

Just get whatever you like - their dishes are Applebee's quality, but honestly I don't know why people are disappointed by the food, it eats just fine and the menu is actually more diverse than one would think.

Complaining about Movie Tavern food is the epitome of #firstworldproblems.

So, we went and overall it was fine, I'll go back eventually.

1. I didn't book online or go to the ticket office in advance, so we had to see The 33 instead of The Martian. My mistake. We also had to sit fairly close up front.

2. Good idea was getting drinks from the bar, before going into the theatre. Bar tender was nice and fairly prompt with the drinks.

3. Food: we shared both the crispy chicken sliders (that came with fries) and the shrimp 'n grits. I liked the sliders better than the grits, but they were both pretty good.

4. Dessert: I got the Not your father's root beer float and I didn't love the alcoholic root beer. Next time I'll just get a regular milkshake, white russian or some other dessert.

5. The service was somewhat slow, but it was no big deal since I wasn't in a hurry.

6. The seats are very comfortable and I didn't notice any kids.

7. I figured the servers walking around during the movie would be a distraction, but it really wasn't.
