My daughter uses BA and likes it. She gifted us a few meals, I did not care for it at all. First, I'm a good cook, I get ideas from recipes, I don't follow them, BA makes prep a long and tedious process. Using my own resources I can prepare a similar meal at a third of the cost in half the time, and I'll have leftovers.

Secondly, the cost and waste of all that packaging is ridiculous. That service should be banned by the EPA.

Highly recommend if you like cooking, but f you are looking for a quick easy meal keep looking

What about if you are wanting to learn to cook, are these services novice friendly and beneficial? If so, which one would you steer a new cook towards?

It's pretty bad.

We recycle the box and that woven basket thing, but I only need so many frozen gel packs in my garage freezer.

Both blue apron and home chef have step by step recipe cards. I think they are really easy to follow. I'm sure plated, hello fresh, etc have the same thing.

Consumer Reports has some info on 5 of the meal plans.

Here's a picture of their summary from the Oct 2016 issue.
