Sunday will be limited. But the Mexican places and Johnny’s will be open. Beau Vines does a nice brunch. Trio’s can be good, but hit or miss.

On Friday, if the weather is nice, Heard Freighthouse has several food trucks. Bad Wolf BBQ is great as is Staple Sandwich. Grown & Grazed was the original, I like their breakfast more than the burger, but it is good.

Agree about Utility mentioned above

Lula Perl is a coffee shop that I hear good things about, but haven’t been. They post their lunch specials on FB and IG and they look really good.

And haven’t been to Griffs since the renovation, but it is a classic. Hopefully they didn’t change the grease. It will be open on Sunday.

White Lightning isn’t open for lunch but it’s the best restaurant in town these days.

I like the barbecue place on Cooktown road. I can't remember the name.

Found it, Brister's Smokehouse.

As far as Mexican goes, I think Don Chuy is better than La Jarrita but La Jarrita is always busier than Don Chuy. Can any locals explain this to me?

Have a couple of their Bloody Marys and take the rest of the day off.

Pontchatoulas had the absolute worst Muffuletta I have ever had in my life. Laughably bad. I’ve had other menu items that were good.

Had some fried oysters there that were so over cooked they were like pencil erasers.

Ponch is very meh. If you like authentic Cajun food then skip it.

White lightning is fantastic.

Utility for casual pizza and beer.

I don’t think beau vines does brunch anymore, but they are open Sundays for lunch.

Bad Wolf is probably some of the best bbq in the state.

Lula pearl is probably the best lunch place in Ruston.

For Mexican the busiest most popular places for locals is probably Gonzalez, then La Bamba, El Jar and Andrades.

I've tried to like Pontchatoulas several times. It's just not very good. I usually opt for a beer and Rotolo's for lunch.

Roma’s has a good pizza and cheesesteak available on Sunday. Flying Burger has a few decent choices. Other than that on Sunday it’s a coin flip for Mexican food.
