Just moved here and have some friends heading to NOLA. What are some good bars in the CBD to bring them too? If they have good food, that would be a two-fer. Thanks in advance

The Rusty Nail in the WHD. Great drinks, great patio.

Food trucks nightly except Monday i believe.

Good bars in the CBD with some food...

Check out CellarDoor, Bellocq and the Swizzle Stick.

Depending day and time, Luke for happy hour.

For something more casual and laid back...The Rusty Nail or Lucy's.

For something a little different consider the Ace a hotels rooftop bar. Pretty cool vibe up there

I was in Cellar Door tonight. Great little bar in an old building that used to be a brothel WAY back in the day. It's mostly a bar, but they do have a bar menu that includes charcuterie, chicken wings, a burger, among other things. It all looked good, but the patrons were all here to drink and I didn't see any food served until later when a bar tender ordered some chicken wings/skins for himself, and it looked good. There is a special events room upstairs, which includes food, so there is food, but it's not the primary thing. It's a bar first and foremost.

There is a Walk Ons a few blocks away, FYI.

Has Cellar Door changed their format? It was definitely more of a restaurant when I went about two years ago.

I don't know about their format, as this was my first time. But I did notice in the main room closest to the street, people were sitting around tables that certainly looked like it could be a restaurant, but no one was eating.

Waitresses tended the tables to and from the bar with drinks and water.

Bar staff was friendly. Similar vibe to Cure on Freret.

Uh. Wat.

It's definitely a restaurant/bar equally. I've been there many times.
